G week

I stunk at taking pictures of G week....

Lets get totally honest: I stunk at doing G week at all. We did not do projects on Thursday or Friday. I have an excuse. Jon went to Mexico on Thursday. We brought him to the church at 4am. Made for a wacky day. We were lucky to do school at all.
And then Friday was just a crazy day....running errands in the morning, fighting with each other a lot......none of us were sleeping well and it was obvious. Again, we were lucky any school got done.

So, here's G:

Play Doh G:

G scavenger hunt:

I also had Liam trace big G and little g with glue and sprinkle some of the colored salt as "glitter". It looked really cool but as it dried it became obvious that salt doesn't really work as glitter.....it's too heavy or something. Anyway, every time I moved the paper, more of the salt fell off....and I threw it away before I realized that I hadn't taken a picture.

Hopefully H week will go better. Come back and check it out!

F Week!

Big F

F...f...F
Four Fluffy Feathers on a
Fiffer-feffer-feff.
-Dr. Seuss's ABC

So, here we go with F week:

F color pages, of course:

This week we tried something new: salt writing. I found the idea online (but unfortunately, have no recollection of where and who to give them the credit they deserve). Basic idea: put salt in a tray (I used an 8x8 baking dish) and let the kids write or draw in it using their fingers (I had them use chop sticks...actually Liam's is a chop stick, David's is a straw.).
The boys (yes, I said boyS) loved it! We also did something else with the salt, but you'll have to visit my main blog to see what.....

More letter painting. Liam is really liking to paint these days and who am I to say he cant? So, he painted his F's and then a picture of his own (which I don't have a picture of, sorry)...

And, while it was a project for a different part of school, I realized it started with F and wanted to share it here. The project was to draw his Family, and he did a wonderful job:

We had some busy-ness happen a bit during F week, so we didn't do all the projects I had wanted to, but the ones we did sure were fun.

Join us next time for the week of G!

E Week!

This last week in school was E week.

ABCDE.....e.....e

-Dr. Suess's ABC book

Color pages are always enjoyed:

Used dried corn husks to trace E's:

Liam's really been loving the painting, so I let him do it again this week (the face was because he didn't want to take a picture right then):

Cutting out E's:

Word search.....a list of words, and he circles the E words and crosses out the others. He's gotten 100% each time he's done this one!

So, there we have E! Come back next week to see what we do for F!
